Chase Manhattan Bank

Complaint

NSF fee created from deduction of Mortgage twice - NSF fee due to Mortgage payment

Deducted twice

Chase cashed my mortgage check, and then 3 days later, sent a second payment in to my checking account via an electronic check. There were insufficient funds. So I was charged an NSF fee from my bank. For 7 days now, I have been trying to get them to acknowledge their error and return the fee I was charged for NSF. They asked me to send them a bunch of documents. Now they are asking for my last two months of statement.

This is all about a charge of $22.50. They are refusing to simply acknowledge their mistake and pay for my damage.
This is a multibillion-dollar corporation that can't figure out who in their company generated an electronic check or what happened to it when my other bank sent it back to them. Their operational ethics are questionable.
I have to say that the customer service people were very polite, listened to what I had to say, and forwarded me to those who were supposed to helpto repair this damage However, it was the benefits analyst and her boss, who was less than helpful, would not listen, contradicted themselves, would not answer my questions, and were just rude individuals. They simply accused me of making the error.

This could have been solved in 15 seconds with an acknowledgment of the error. Perhaps it is company policy to never accept responsibility, if so, it is bad policy. I would close my account with them and never do business again.
