Here is the list of student loans that eligible to be consolidated .

  • PERK - Federal Perkins Loans, formerly Nations Defense/National Direct Student Loans

  • (NDSL)PLUS - Federal PLUS (Parent) Loans *

  • SCON - Subsidized Federal Consolidation Loans 

  • UCON- Unsubsidized Federal Consolidation Loans 

  • SLS - Federal Supplemental Loans for Students (formerly Auxiliary Loans to Assist Students (ALAS) and Student PLUS Loans) 

  • SS - Subsidized Federal Stafford Loans & Guaranteed Student Loans (GSL)

  • DSS - Direct Subsidized Stafford Loans, DUS - Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loans

  • DPLUS - Direct PLUS Loans, DUCON - Direct Unsubsidized Consolidation Loan, including Direct PLUS

  • Graduate Federal PLUS Loans

  • Federally Insured Student Loans (FISL)  

  • Federal Consolidation Loans (if you have an additional loan that is eligible for consolidation)

  • Health Education Assistance Loans (HEAL)  

* Parent Federal PLUS Loans taken out on a dependent's behalf can be consolidated with the existing eligible student loans of that parent. Parent Federal PLUS Loans cannot be consolidated with the dependent's student loans

Loan consolidation allows you to make one monthly payment (instead of several payments to different lenders) to extend the term of your loan and reduce your monthly payments. It's a repayment option worth exploring.
